ChatGPT Reverse Engineering: Get the Best Ads Replicated! — Teach Me Something 11
We try to find the prompt (command) that leads to a certain output or a result we think is good. We work backward from the result to figure out the prompt.
Have you ever looked at a product and thought, “How was this made?” That’s exactly what reverse engineering is all about — figuring out the processes behind creating something by carefully analyzing the product or system. When applied to ChatGPT, the essence of this approach remains the same: we try to find the prompt (command) that leads to a certain output or a result we think is good. We work backward from the result to figure out the prompt.
And the result doesn’t even have to come from ChatGPT!
Welcome to teach me something, I’m an engineer who loves learning new things and teach them plainly.
So, how is this done?
Let me explain with an example. Let’s say you own a shoe brand, and you really like a competitor’s ad text. You want to create a similar message, but you’re unsure which prompts to use as a starting point. This is where you can bring ChatGPT’s reverse engineering skills into play.
You can start by saying to ChatGPT:
“You are a prompt engineering expert capable of reverse engineering. I will provide you with a text, and I want you to suggest a prompt based on its tone, style, syntax, language, and any other relevant factors you think of. Your suggestion will be effective if it generates a similar result when input into an AI model. Please respond if this is understood.”
This command will put ChatGPT into reverse engineering mode. Now, you take the competitor’s ad and paste it:
“Hey! Life goes by so fast, don’t you think? You want to live every moment to the fullest, explore new places, and chase your dreams. But what about your feet? Meet Smartcush! With its elegance and comfort, it will never let you down, accompanying you with every step like a loyal friend. Catch the rhythm of life with Smartcush!”
After analyzing this ad, ChatGPT will suggest an appropriate prompt to generate a similar ad text. This method makes it possible to produce new content with a similar tone and style. In the final step, you take the suggested prompt and paste it into a new chat. Mission completed! Easy and fast.
By using reverse engineering with ChatGPT, you can develop content ranging from ad texts to blog posts. You can replicate the same style and have it create your own text.
